RECIPESCHRISTMAS
It is finally halfway through November, and I think we all know that means one thing: Christmas Season! I'm hearing Christmas music at the grocery stores, so I think it's safe to say it's finally that time of year. After enduring COVID for 10 months, I think everyone is relieved to take their mind off of the pandemic and focus on spending the next few weeks seeing friends and family, whether virtually or in small gatherings.
And speaking of gatherings, it's also my self proclaimed cocktail season! I feel sometimes as though the cold weather and merry ambience of the season lend really well to sipping on a cocktail and reminiscing, watching a Christmas movie or just hanging out. Around this season, all of the flavours in this cocktail really start to stand out to me so I thought: Why not throw them all together? And boy, am I glad I did!
The best part about this cocktail is that it is easy to make, and you can batch it because it doesn't necessarily need to be shaken! Go ahead and multiply the recipe by 10 and throw all of your ingredients directly into a punch bowl! Leave some rosemary on the side to garnish, and in business!
Ingredients:
- 3 oz cranberry juice
- 1.5 oz vodka
- 2 oz white wine
- 0.25 oz Galliano
- 0.5 oz Grand Marnier
- pink pepper, cinnamon
- non-alcoholic sparkling pear or apple cider to top (or alcoholic if you want that quick buzz haha!)
Glass: coupe glass
Garnish: pomegranate arils, rosemary sprig
Build: mixed or shaken, dealer's choice. It will be colder if you shake it, but you can also chill your ingredients beforehand.
Directions:
1. If mixing the drink, build directly into a coupe glass or shaker.
2. Start off by cracking two or three pink peppercorns above the glass. Drop them into the glass or shaker.
3. Add a dash of cinnamon (the tiniest pinch) to the glass or shaker.
4. Add all of your ingredients, EXCEPT the cider, and shake or move on to step 5.
5. If using a shaker, strain into the coupe.
6. pinch a few pomegranate arils and place them into the cocktail.
7. Top your cocktail with the pear or apple cider.
8. Roll a sprig of rosemary around in your hands and place it into the cocktail.
9. Enjoy! And if you make this, don't forget to tag take a picture, and tag @atwistoflemoncocktails on Instagram!
